Brass plates and signs have always been  collected and cherished and come from a variety of sources. From signalboxes where they were used on the lever frames and under the block signaling instruments. 

From steam locomotives and carriages.

They look fantastic all polished up and there's something for eveybody's interest and pocket!

The back of this plate shows it was originally recycled from a label board which was fixed to a plinth behind the lever frame. Most were cut up when the new 4" center lever frames were introduced.
